We have taken delivery of our beautiful new Information sign for the Gilberton Woodland, one large information sign cum brochure holder and 2 smaller directional signs for the Wildflower Walk at Vale Park. Purchase with a grant from DEWNR, they will be installed soon (after siting approval by Walkerville Council is given).

A very different day, designed to be fun, interesting & rewarding for all our environmental friends & us! When: Sunday 3rd April 2016. 10am – 3pm (BBQ from 12 noon – 2pm, Tastings & other activities all day)

On Tuesday 16.8.15, Rachel’s enthusiastic Para Worklinks team removed around 2,000 litres of weeds from the Tennis Court Patch in Vale Park!  And they’ve asked to come back again – yes please!

The white form of our Pink Fairies orchid (Caladenia latifolia), which we call “White Fairies”, has begun to flower on the Wildflower Walk at Vale Park.  This is at least 10 days earlier than in previous years!

On 4.8.15,  in the Gilberton Woodland,  Ann, Catherine & Heather carefully planted out 11 pots of native orchids rescued from Kangaroo Creek Reservoir . Thanks mostly to Ann and Cathryn’s good efforts, we were very pleased at how well the orchids looked after planting, 

A HUGE THANKYOU to SA Water for donating 16 pots of rescued Kangaroo Creek Reservoir native orchids for immediate planting on sites at VPOP, including this lovely flowering Helmet Orchid (which pretends to be a gilled mushroom to attract pollinating fungus flies!).

We still have a number of native tubestock that need to be planted (including some orchids), and at this time of year there is also the usual weeding.  A special focus this month will be making our street fronts and entrances as weed-free and appealing as possible.  There is also our colourful winter flowers and […]

Although my reference books say that this beautiful shrub flowers in spring, this year they are definitely flowering in mid-winter at both Gilberton where this photo was taken, and on the Wildflower Walk at Vale Park.
